Sorry for being a bit MIA lately and not posting very consistently but Holidays are a rather crazy time for me... Mostly because I have a addiction. Yes it is time to be honest, I realize I have a problem but I don't think rehab is the answer for me. My addiction is... Christmas decorating. Yes, I am obsessed with  decorating. I deck the halls and don't stop there, the windows, the walls, the cabinets, the chairs, the doors, the floors, the gates, the garage, the fence, the bushes, the benches, I mean seriously everything is decked. I began decorating Saturday and the house isn't remotely done. My parents are still tripping over loose ornaments and garland, Sorry family. Yesterday I hung almost 200 feet of christmas lights. They looked fantastic around the fence separating our yard from the rest of the property. So, me being a complete air head did not test them and when I plugged them in for the big reveal later in the night... Nothing. I also blew a few fuses with my candy canes in the yard.

My ohhh sooo chic light hanging outfit, Texas A&M santa hat and all!

So needless to say, my decorations have a long ways to come. However, I did get all the candles in the house change to Christmas ones, and the fire place in the family room is nearly done and my biggest accomplishment is I finished putting up the Waterford tree. This tree is actually fake because all the ornaments are waterford crystal so we had to have a sturdier tree. This tradition started before I was born and my dad bought the Partridge and a Pear tree then the next year it was two turtle doves and so forth. About five years ago we got the twelve (what one is that, drummers drumming?) And were done so it was a moment where we weren't sure what to do for our ornament tradition. Well, now we buy the goofiest ornament we can find and create a silly little story to go with it. Last year was an awkward owl that was always picked on by the other ornaments because he had special powers? Oh don't ask, my family is a little... strange to say the least. Cheep goofy ornaments may not be as fancy as Waterford but at least now I don't have to worry about them breaking when my cat tries to crawl up the tree because the Waterfords have their own tree fair out of her reach. I am actually excited to be able to share the stories (all saved on my laptop of course, hopefully Alice the Apple doesn't die any time soon!) with my kids one day.

This is my favorite set, the lords a-leaping

Today was the first day back to school after fall break and we have four entire weeks of school until Christmas break... That is a legal form of torture. After winter break we have finals and then track starts. It seems like this year is going be super fast which honestly scares me a little. I'll put up an OOTD soon I promise, I just haven't really been dressing worthy, let me tell you AP world history and Chemistry really takes it out of you. Thursday after class I'm meeting with friends in public (Emphasis on public, if we were going to be at my house I would be in PJs... I am really lazy sometimes) so I will have to look at least presentable. I'll try to post one then!

Have a splendid week loves, and think, Monday is already over!

Love,

Girl in the Green Breeches

P.S. What are some of your family traditions?

P.P.S Oh my sorry this took so long for me to post! I wrote it on Monday and since we got a new internet company there have been a few... kinks to work through to say the least. I'll be doing a "traditions" and DIY door decorations posts soon!

Time for a truth...

So I am big on honesty and I think it's high time I tell everyone something. I may dress cute in the photos I share and I do love fashion... But I'd much rather wear jeans, my converse sneakers, a tee shirt (especially anything SF giants) and my over sized 'Man' Texas A&M or track team sweatshirt. If I could wear that every single day, I would! Okay honestly? I wore that everyday from January-May of last year... Yes I honestly wore that track sweat shirt or the A&M one EVERYDAY.... Yeah... so my fashion sense has obviously evolved but I am not to be mistaken, I will blog about fashion all day but I'm really a jeans and sneakers kinda girl. Love it or hate it, give me a Giants game, some pop corn, and coca cola and I'll be there in a heartbeat with my Buster Posey jersey. This could definitely explain why I don't have a date to formal :P

Love,

Girl in the Green Breeches

P.S. Sorry for the random post! Just felt like sharing, have an awesome weekend... Back to the real world Monday ):

Sales... No or go?

Now I love any sale as much as the next girl... But Black Friday is sales on steroids. Everyone gathers around the stores and waits to be unleashed when those doors open. It's that one moment a year people forget all manners they ever had and we are back to being savages. So, are those drool-worthy prices worth it? I go bath and forth every year. This year it seems I shall indeed be going. How I decide whether or not to face the insanity is I look at the sales offered and make a list of things I need. This year many of the things I am needing are on sale for unbeatable prices, so, I will be going. Macey's is offering sales on shoes, 50% off men's jackets, 30%-40% sweaters (yay!), 25%-40% off dresses, 40% off Calvin K, Nautica, and Guess, 25%-40% off bags, 30% off PJs, and 30%-50% off jewelry plus much more. Target is opening at nine this year (which is fabulous, no more 4 am rushes!) and our local mall is opening at midnight. Still early/late and exhausting but, better than 4 am no less. So, Are YOU delving into the savagery? I can't say I am above it all...

Love,

Girl in the Green Breeches

P.S. Happy Thanksgiving and may you and all your loved ones be safe and sound.

A walk on a drizzly day

Hey everyone, I have had quite the chain of unfortunate events trying to create this post. My internet is touchy to put it lightly and lately it has been quite disagreeable. However, now I am finally having some luck! Yesterday morning Kane and I went on a walk even though it began to drizzle right after we left. It wasn't hard enough to turn back, it was actually kind of nice considering the horrid summer we had. I haven't taken a walk just to walk in way too long. As we went around the property I realized how lucky I am to live on a place with such gorgeous scenery and nice wide open spaces. So in the spirit of Thanksgiving take a moment everyday this week to just appreciate something you notice everyday that seems so simple.

Pink, polos, and preppy - OOTD

Hey there everyone! It is FINALLY cooling down here in the Golden State and boy am I glad! I love sunshine and summer nights but after four months of 95-110 degree weather it gets old. I mean it was 88 on halloween this year. However, better late than never, fall is here! It was in the sixties today and I couldn't keep the grin off my face.

So, here is what I wore (I had a cardigan and Parka over but I wanted to show off the shirt since I did a Beverly Hills Polo Club post last night, Here: http://girlinthegreenbreeches.blogspot.com/2012/11/brand-review-beverly-hills-polo-club.html )

Polo: BHPC; Jeans: American Eagle; Boots: Bandolino; Watch: Charming Charlie's; Necklace (Isn't this adorable? I twas only about 2 dollars!): Forever 21

(It says LAUGH you can't really tell...)

So one of the reasons I chose this outfit was because there was a National Honors Society meeting today and anyone interested had to meet the officers and advisors who can pull a lot of weight. So I went with something fun and classy. I feel a good outfit can really give you a confidence boost (I was thinking about this as I walked down the hall after staying late to help a teacher out and how good I felt today). I certainly needed a boost since I was pretty nervous today (thankfully one of my best friends agreed to go with me and look into NHS, that never hurts!)
The jeans and boots are casual but professional and the polo of course is classic but fun with the bright print. It really showed off my personality and I think the meeting went well. Fingers crossed I make the cut! Thanks for reading!

Brand Review: Beverly Hills Polo Club

This brand has quickly become one of my favorites! I found it while shopping on Haute Look this past spring and well, fell in love. It is complete West Coast Prep. the style is chic, classic, and iconic for California. The brand started as a silk screen onto a sweat suit but quickly turned into a brand for clothes and accessories. The quality of all their items I have is great. I have a few polos and I ride in them all the time! If you ride you know the clothes you ride in are subject to textile-torture. These polos have held up nicely through it all. I love the horse logo (duh) as well. The polos fit really well and are naturally a little bit long (which personally I like even though I am short waisted). This is the link to their summer catalog: http://www.bhpc.com/catalog/

Tune in tomorrow for an OOTD including some BHPC!

Bales on a Brisk day

This was a ranch work day. I cleaned stalls, moved a new load of hay in, and worked with my colt, Pucker Up aka Pucker. It was a long day ended with a camp fire. This is why I love fall, almost ever weekend there is a bonfire and it's always a great time to gather around with my friends and relax after a long week. Plaid shirt: Forever 21 Jeans: Vigoss Boots: Sorel Jacket: Not sure

The boots run REALLY big, partially because you are supposed to wear a bunch of pairs of wooly warm socks with them.

Fall Haul Number One

This is my first fall haul (that was a crime of rhyme.. Oh not that was really lame... I should be ashamed... Ha look I am a poet and I didn't even know it! Okay... I'll stop now ); ) This is the first of probably many... I love shopping during fall. I love going shopping in town (I live out in the country so anywhere with stores is 'in town') with my friends and even my parents (hey they pay and my stepmom and dad have really good fashion sense!) Even when it is raining outside I love throwing on skinnies, my plaid wellies, a comfy sweater and grab my polka dot or cheetah print umbrella and delving into the rain, passing from store to stare and gaining just enough warmth to be able to splash right outside with a grin on my face. Okay enough with my winter/fall shopping memories.... I am desperate for some rain folks. Fingers crossed for Friday!

(Disclaimer this is a bit of a speech about JCP. Skip to below the photos for the clothes info, if you find my sarcasm and honesty adorable read on my dear friends) So let's get to it! The first stop was JCP. Now I love and hate this store. Quality is fairly good, price is great, and I like their classic styles. I dislike the service, dressing rooms, and people. Maybe it is just mine but the service is TERRIBLE at mine. No one wants to help. the dressing rooms are cramped and tiny. If you aren't in the first one you have to squeeze past a ton of people down this tiny hall to show my company what the clothes look like. I stay in my dressing room and will texts picks thank you very much. So that's my JCP rant! Sorry bout that! The clothes Bryce the Clothes! Righty-o here we are!
Sweater Numero Uno (I've had two years of Spanish and that's about as good as it gets folks.... That reminds me I ought to study for that test on Friday.) This is a Arizona Jeans Co. v-neck that I about fell in love with when my dear father pulled it off the rack snickering a little and said, "Brycie, you will love this it's all preppy and such." He mocks my love of preppy fashion. I tell him I could dress many other ways being a teenager. It is medium thickness with nice long sleeve good for keeping your hands a little warmer. I love the bright-navey color and the white accent. Truly adorable. Only $13! I then found the purple one right next to it and since purple is my go to color I had to have it. I know, I know stripes aren't supposed to be flattering but it's cute? Wear it. Especially if it is purple.

I then located this sweater. It is fitted at the bottom and flares out a tiny bit as you get to the top so the sleeves are loose at the shoulders and tighter at the wrists. I know purple stripes. Hush. It is super warm and cozy and I am in love. I stayed home with a cold yesterday and snuggled around all day in it and some leggings. Heaven. It was only $15

I grabbed this henley on the way out because of three reasons. A) it's purple. B) It is a necessity for fall and I one have a few that are in good condition C) It's purple. Need I say more? It was only $6. It looks odd here. like it's large around the hips? Not on me and trust me I do not have big hips. Sadly I have no hips.

I then wen to the best store ever invented. If I could own a store it would be a Bath and Bodyworks by The Girl In The Green Breeches. I love B&BW. Plain and simple. I got four candles (actually 6 but two go in the kitchen so they are not really mine.) I got Marshmallow Fireside by White Barn (Love White Barn!) and it is burning right now actually. It is a really yummy slight sweet slightly smoky scent. It's not super strong though. The next one I got is Snowed In by White Barn. My father says it smells like fabric softener. In a way, honestly it does. It is a super fresh airy scent with a pine/evergreen edge. It reminds me of walking through the forest to cut down a Christmas tree in the snow. Like I have ever done that, we don't get snow here ): Moving on to the next candle, Spiced Apple Toddy. It is a warm rich spicy smell of cinnamon, apples, and brown sugar and of course spices of all sorts. It is the complete essence of fall wrapped into one candle (even though it was 80 today... That isn't fall. That is summer.) Last but certainly not least was my Peppermint Twist. It is a pretty Cornflower Blue and smells minty fresh with a yummy sweet edge. It smells like peppermint bark to me. It's strong and I love how when you smell it the scent tickles the back of your throat. The other two I got for the kitchen were Peach Bellini. I used to have a horse named Bellini Martini.... Anyway they are sweet and I really like them but I think of them more so as a summer smell.

Next stop was Macey's for fake riding boots since I will not be wearing my Ariats to school any time soon. Sadly we found nothing. My calf is very skinny and the average boot is made for a 15-17 inch calf. Mine is about 12. This causes quite the issue. If you are reading this and know a brand that makes boots for slim legs please comment! Thanks loves!

Last stop was American Eagle. I love and hate this store. Love the clothes (and dressing rooms haha!) but the prices ): They are so marked up it is insane! See that maroon long sleeve? It was $20 but they put a sticker over to say it was $25. Just because it was a fall color and the blue wasn't. Lame. Also all the girls squealing and laughing and pulling things off the racks and cutting in line.... No thanks. So the jeans are just classic dark wash skinnies. Finding my size was a feat but thanks to Stepmother we did find them, on sale too! Props to you Stepmother. I just grabbed the T's on the way out cause they were by one get one half off. hey a girl can NEVER have too many T's. Especially in winter. Even though right now it is fake-fall. I'm awfully upset with this weather.

Now tomorrow is supposed to be in the low 60's (poor ponies that'll shock their systems, 20 degree drop over night) and I have an adorable fall OOTD planned for tomorrow! Talk to you all later!

Purplely Pleased

I thought I would do a quick post about my new favorite fall nail polish. It used to be a creamy brown from Sinful Colors (not sure the name) but the other day I picked up an OPI while at Target ( I sort of am obsessed with this place... Not sure why but they truly have everything!) This is from their Texas collection and it is called Houston We Have A Purple But really I think is is more pink-maroon. It definitely has purple in it but also a lot of magenta. I have about three coats on so it is a dark creamy maroon. It is rich, luxurious (okay can polish be luxurious? Not sure...) and very holiday. It is totally appropriate for fall since fall is a time for rich colors but it is PERFECT for winter. I mean Christmas time is all about rich reds then there is New Years and Valentines day. If you use a light coat it could even be a summer color in my opinion. I am all about crossing over colors. Keep your eyes out and you will see my nails painted a bright yellow or pink in the middle of winter.

What is your favorite OPI color/name (the names are half the fun!) and what is your favorite fall color?

Pretty perfumes... What's you're go to?

Every girl needs her go to perfume. Preferably one for spring/summer and another for fall/winter. I know some girls have only one but as the seasons change style changes and my mood changes. The light airy scent of summer suddenly isn't as appealing as the rich deep scents of winter. My go to scent for summer is Carried Away by Bath and Bodyworks. If I'm going out ill spritz on Fresh and Fierce by Victoria Secret. As for winter I have not found my soulmate perfume. Currently I'm loving Pairs Amour by Bath and Bodyworks. However it is still a little sweet for my taste in the winter months. So, I will continue the search for my go-to!

Now I know this wasn't a horse related post but every girl need a good perfume! If you have any suggesting for a yummy fall scent post below!

OOTS: A warm (November?) day

It was 80 today... What? It is November! It is supposed to be in the 50's! It is supposed to drop 20 degree over night this week. Yikes! Time for me to go pull out the sweaters from the cedar chest! Hopefully no moths found their way inside. This was my outfit when I went shopping (good for the soul... not my cold! Fighting those crowds was awfully exhausting) .
